Free Tools to Organize Yourself Online

Posted by ceci in Business Tips

Use Google Calendar to Organize Yourself

A personal assistant can perform time management tasks for you. But if you do not have one then there is nothing to worry about. You can easily have a solution by using Google Calendar on your Desktop.

The need to organize is a part of human nature especially if you are at some important position in a company; even if that is not the case, there are many people around you who expect you to remember their birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other related stuff. With the pressure of work or studies, it is physically impossible for a person to keep track of so many dates. Many of you must have had the embarrassing experience of making a commitment with your wife or a close friend for dinner or shopping and then having to cancel it because of any important meeting that was scheduled weeks ago and that somehow slipped your mind.

The desktop Google calendar helps you organize yourself in a better way. It has a number of features other than just being a plan calendar which ensure smoothness in your day to day planning. The most important feature in this regard is that it connects to your Google calendar directly, so all you have to do is to update your online calendar while checking your emails. You can put in birthday reminders, events, meetings, appointments and wedding anniversaries reminders etc. in your calendar. You will get emails and reminders on your desktop about all the upcoming events. But there is a problem here; the Google calendar on your desktop is read only meaning that you cannot update it directly like a number of other desktop applications. The editing, deleting and adding of new events has to be done from Gmail calendar.

Another important thing that you should know about this application is that it is available online. Do not be missing guided by the name – the Google desktop calendar can be accessed from your cell phone as well. In addition to this, you can open it at public computers too to check your schedule. This ease of availability has made Google desktop calendar popular among a number of people. In addition to this, Google has given a number of features with the desktop calendar to make it different from others in the market.

You get regular updates of weather forecasts on your desktop calendar. These forecasts are powered by Google which means that they are very authentic. So you can plan your week according to the weather conditions being displayed by your desktop Google calendar. The desktop calendar can also be used as a search engine; there is a panel right above the dates where you can type the stuff that you want to search about and your browser will take you to the Google homepage directly. It is very simple and convenient to use.

Local Marketing

Some Cheap and Easy Local Marketing Methods To Employ

We’re all working on limited budgets these days, however in order for our Small Businesses to grow and thrive we all need to spend extra time doing what it takes in order to bring more customers through the front door right? So the question is how will you, a small business owner get the word out about your business without spending a big grip of money to do it? Can you really do this and preserve your companies identity while consistently growing your business at the same time? There are a few ways that will cost you only time and not money to implement and will work great for getting the word out about your Local Business.

One of the major ways to do is is to create Flyers and Leaflets. I’m pretty sure if you are a local business owner you’ve heard of leaflets unless you’ve been hiding under a rock somewhere. Leaflets can be mailed out or handed to people in person but in almost all cases they are mailed out. If you approach your local newspaper they will allow you to throw in your leaflet with their other leaflets and you’ll pay a lump sum fee to have it delivered in an agreed on geographic region. I know someone who owns a massage business and they paid $400 for their leaflet to get mailed to all the North County Times subscribers. She ended up getting a few new clients and broke even on the front end, but made a great profit on the back end because these same people kept coming back for more massages.

If you haven’t joined your cities local Chamber Of Commerce you should. It will give you the opportunity to meet and share promotional ideas with dozens of fellow business owners. It’s a great place to share ideas and network with fellow business owners in the same community as well as keep a pulse on business in your local area. You can even host a free lunch and brunch meeting provided you bring the food, or coffee and donuts, and provide valuable, content rich presentations. What this will do is build lots of trust over time with your fellow community members, and the beautiful reward of building trust is that people are more likely to do business with you when they start trusting you more.

Considering Online Promotional Methods I think one of the best things a small business owner can do to increase their brand online is write and submit articles. It doesn’t cost a penny if you do it yourself, and while you won’t get a hoard of traffic overnight, if you do this for a while people will read these and trust you. Make sure what you write about though is related to your business and what products or services you offer. If you write enough articles people will eventually search for your business online, and they will find you “all over the place”. This builds lots of trust and allows people to not only trust you but your business as well. Whether the economy is good or bad, we all still have to go on with business as usual. How you do this shows your character as a person and as a professional.
